This fall, comic fans from across the world can revel in a two week long celebration of comic books, cartoon artwork and illustration, animated film, debate, and more. The theme of this year’s central exhibition is “Space, Time, and Comics” and will explore the connection between space and time throughout the evolution of the comic book. The iconic Amadora International Comic Festival will span several locations across capital city Lisbon, and offers a full spread of interactive comic and art related activities suitable for adults, children, and families alike.
Within the central hub of the festival, several exciting exhibitions in the main space of the Forum Luís de Camões building will be set up from morning until night, offering workshops, open forums for debate, and a book fair with autograph sessions. Featured author Marco Mendes will make an appearance and promote and discuss his book Zombie. Exploring the evolution of space and time within the history of comics, the central exhibition will be organized into three categories: Classicism, Modernism, and Contemporary. Art, architecture, and cinema, will all be discussed and debated in their relation to comics. The festival is truly a unique opportunity to rub elbows with some of the most notable authors and international professionals in this field as you take in nearly all art forms and artistic expressions of the art of comics.
